Welcome to Foundation Drawing!
This introductory course explores fundamental tools, techniques and principles of drawing. Students will draw and discuss work as a class in every class session.
Course Details
This is an in-person class. Attendance is mandatory. This is not an online, remote or asynchronous course, you must be present to do the work and participate.
3 class hours, (lecture, drills, projects, analysis, critique) 3 credits
(Student Hour is 1pm to 2pm by appointment before class RSVP by emailing [email protected] )
Students will be drawing during every single class.
Basic Materials List Necessary for Every Class:
Portable 9 x 12″ Sketch Pad or use Plain white copy paper
Pencils (6B, HB, 2H)
Non-slip Ruler (metal with cork on back)
White Vinyl Eraser
Prerequisites: None; Equivalent to old course COMD 1103
Attendance (College) and Lateness (Department) Policies:
No more than 4 class absences will be tolerated.
Any 2 latenesses will be considered to be equal to 1 absence.
Absences in excess of 10% of the total class hours will result in a 10% drop from your grade due to an inability to meet deliverables of participation. This is in addition to other penalties that will be imposed for failure to complete academic requirements.
The COMD BFA and AAS are design studio programs. In-class activities and engagement with other students is a significant portion of the course. It is expected that you will be ready to work at the start of each period.
